What to Expect in doing a Boudoir Photoshoot?

When I am in the process of working with a client on scheduling and answering questions that they may have about the shoot. I get a lot of questions. I will always answer questions but I have created a document that I can share with a client to make sure she has all the information needed.

Doing a Boudoir Photoshoot is not like sitting on a stool then smile and say cheese. I want to understand why the client is doing this shoot. I want to make sure I understand her expectations. In doing so the client needs to understand what Boudoir is all about. I seen too many pictures in which the photo is about her boobs or butt. So, what is Boudoir?

Here is a simple definition from Wikipedia that keeps it simple.

“accommodation, usually between the dining room and the bedroom, but can also refer to a woman's private A boudoir (/ˈbuːdwɑːr/; French: [bu. dwaʁ]) is a woman's private sitting room or salon in a furnished bedroom.”

It is simply a place where a woman can feel beautiful. I think that many do not really understand what Boudoir Photography really is. My work speaks for itself.

Now you are booking a shoot. So, what happens a Boudoir shoot?

First, I want to get to know you and what your thoughts are about Boudoir before the schedule day of the shoot. It is much different than going to a Portrait Studio. You will experience a unique and fun experience. In our discussion we can discuss the types of outfits to bring and answer any questions you may have.

Secondly, I want to touch on the subject of nudity. That is a choice that you make. Some are comfortable and some are not. Then there are those who do implied nude. In which you are nude but not exposed to the camera. Nudity is not required.

Finally, when you arrive, we will sit and look at some poses and the outfits you will be wearing. After that we will sign an agreement. Then we will get started. I will guide you into the poses.
